STANDARD FEATURES

Hands-free Operation:

Quick and smooth touchless operation with glass barriers swinging open and closed using their own power.

Optical Detection:

LED sensors detect passage with high accuracy, which then can be used to gather data on traffic patterns, attendance numbers, and more.

Access Control Integration:

The SL1000 can integrate with virtually all common access control reading devices and software, with optional Ethernet connectivity also available.

Onboard Control System:

With ease of use in mind, we offer each SL1000 with an onboard control system. This integrated display and control buttons provide you direct access to all functions, parameters, and information without having to plug in a laptop or connect to the internet.

Internal Reader Device Compartment:

Each SL1000 comes with an internal compartment designed for proximity readers. This allows you to install your reader internally for a sleeker look and a tamper-proof installation. All other reader devices can be mounted externally with integration through a dry contact.

Indoor or Outdoor Use:

Our SL1000 has earned an IP 54 rating, allowing you to install it either inside or outside.

Gate End Display Indicators:

Directly on top of the reader device compartment, you will find red and green indicator lights that users can glance at quickly to determine if lanes are open to them or if their credentials still need to be validated.

Audible Alerts:

Integral buzzers chime to indicate nearby attendants or security personnel of forced passage, unauthorized entry, functional error, or crawling over/under the unit. You can configure the buzzers on the fly with the onboard configuration display module.

Frame Illumination:

Each SL1000 comes standard with LED frame illumination in red and green to clearly show lane status, direction of passage, or the validity of credentials.

Floor Illumination:

Each SL1000 also comes standard with white LED floor illumination for enhanced visual appeal.

High Throughput/Capacity:

Barrier opening times of 1 second or less allow for rapid throughput and efficient entry for even the highest traffic installations.

Durable Cabinet:

Highly durable polyurethane cabinet provides an impact and chemical-resistant alternative to other offerings in the optical turnstile market.

Card Stacking:

  • Lane remains open while authorizing multiple credentials
  • Increases throughput during busy periods
  • Allows simultaneous verifications (good for groups of people)

Tailgate Detection:

  • Assures that only one person enters for each authorized credential
  • Helps prevent “Piggybacking” by unauthorized entrants

Crawl Under Detection:

Optical LED’s detect all movement 8″ above the floor.

Power Failure/Emergency Mode:

  • Barrier easily pushes open during a power failure or an emergency
  • Barrier auto-resets when power is restored

Quality Control:

Every unit is inspected, tested, and certified before shipment.

Options

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

Custom Cabinet Colors:

Turnstile cabinets are available in nearly any customer-specified color.

Custom Barrier Materials:

SL1000 glass barriers can be created in standard single-layer safety glass, acrylic, or other customer-specified materials.

Emergency Button:

An integrated button for triggering the alarm contacts while unlocking the barriers.

Adhesive Plate:

A stainless steel baseplate that attaches to the bottom of the units and is used to glue the units to the floor. This is best for installations where fine flooring material has already been laid, and you want to minimize the number of holes you have to drill into the floor.

Foundation Frame Base Plate:

A baseplate made of stainless steel with a black carpeted surface that raises the units off the floor and allows for wiring to route between units without drilling holes into the floor.

Ethernet Module:

Allows for Ethernet connection capabilities so you can integrate your SL1000 with your facility’s current software. Parameterization and signal processing can also be processed with our Ethernet Module via local network or the web.

    FAQs

EZ Lane SL1000 Swing Glass Optical Turnstile FAQs

We’ve answered the most common questions about the EZ Lane SL1000.

How does the SL1000 help prevent tailgating and unauthorized entry?

The SL1000 is a “smart” turnstile in that it uses optical sensors throughout the lane to continuously monitor who is entering, how many people are passing through, and how they are moving. If someone attempts to follow an authorized user, move in the wrong direction, or enter without approval, the system can detect the event and trigger an alarm or other programmed response.

This makes the SL1000 a strong choice for corporate offices, data centers, universities, and other facilities that need better control than a standard access controlled door without creating a heavy or intimidating entrance.

Can the SL1000 provide ADA accessible entry without a separate swing gate?

Yes. One of the biggest advantages of the SL1000 is that accessible passage can be built directly into the optical turnstile array.

With conventional turnstiles, facilities often need a separate ADA swing gate alongside the controlled lanes. That wider opening can become a weak point in the entrance when it is used or left unsecured. An appropriately configured SL1000 lane allows wheelchair users and other pedestrians requiring additional space to pass through the same intelligent optical detection system as everyone else.

This allows facilities to improve accessibility without sacrificing the security and tailgating deterrence of the controlled entrance.

Is the SL1000 a good choice for high traffic office and building entrances?

Yes. The SL1000 is designed for entrances where large numbers of people need to move through quickly without giving up access control. In fact, the SL1000 is rated for 10,000,000 mean cycles before failure.

The barriers open rapidly, and features such as card stacking allow multiple authorized users to present credentials in succession without forcing the lane to fully reset between every person. Bidirectional operation can also allow the same lane to manage both entry and exit when the application calls for it.

For busy headquarters, office towers, universities, and other high traffic facilities, this combination of speed and intelligent sensing helps reduce bottlenecks while maintaining controlled access.

Can the SL1000 work with my existing access control system and credentials?

In most applications, yes. The SL1000 is designed to integrate with existing access control systems rather than forcing customers into a proprietary ecosystem. It can work with common credential technologies such as card readers, proximity credentials, mobile access, biometric readers, and other systems that can provide the appropriate access signal. This allows facilities to upgrade the physical entrance while continuing to use the security platform and credentials they already trust.

Hayward can also work with your integrator during the design process to make sure the turnstile, access control system, and entrance layout function together correctly.

Why should I choose the SL1000 instead of a conventional waist high turnstile?

The SL1000 is designed for facilities that want stronger access control without sacrificing appearance, handicap accessibility, or the user experience.

A conventional waist high turnstile primarily creates a mechanical checkpoint. The SL1000 combines automated glass barriers with optical sensing that continuously monitors activity inside the lane. This allows it to detect and deter tailgating, recognize improper passage, provide hands free barrier operation, and create accessible lanes within the same entrance system.

The result is a cleaner, more modern entrance that combines physical barrier deterrence with intelligent detection. For corporate lobbies, data centers, universities, and other professional environments, the SL1000 provides a much more complete entrance control solution than a conventional mechanical turnstile.
